Henry’s friend Klara sent a letter to the Museum accompanied by the Nathan Pyle comic above. This is what she said:
This comic reminded me of Henry for a couple of reasons. First of all, Henry used to love web comics! I think he caught on to them way earlier than most people, and would send them to me every so often. Now there are several web comics that I follow and wish I could share with him. I’m not sure if he knew about Nathan W. Pyle’s comics but I think he would have liked them.
Second of all, I remember Henry drawing me something with a smiley-faced mountain! I love and miss his art. In a history class we took together in high school, we used to swap papers and grade each other’s quizzes and it was always a fun adventure when Henry graded your quiz because it would have colorful doodles everywhere. And in math class if he had to explain something on the board in front of the class he would do things like drawing points on a Cartesian plane and naming them Allison and Russell instead of Point A and Point B. Which reminds me of how this graph has been personified!
And finally, the feeling of this whole comic is about turning a sad situation into something happy/funny (a strength of Henry’s) and brightening people’s days through art (another talent of his!)
Thanks, Klara.
